Saint Francis of Assisi
In case you're curious, Saint Francis is stuck on a fishing boat in the photo to the right. He's going out to preach to the fishes, like his Brother Saint Anthony, we think.
Saint Francis is so well known, and has appeared in art, through the ages, in such a variety of situations, that we couldn't choose just one of them for our decal. Instead, we brought together some of our favorites: the birds about Saint Francis that are so well known, the Wolf of Gubbio, Saint Francis' Stigmata, his worn and repaired habit, and the Crucifix he's so frequently seen clutching are all shown. We've even tried for a likeness to the painting of Saint Francis by Cimabue, which appears on a wall in the Basilica of Saint Francis, in Assisi, and is believed to be a real likeness, showing the Saint's actual appearance.
